Ragi Porridge With Banana

Ragi (finger millet) is one of the richest plant sources of calcium and iron; essential in early weaning when iron stores from birth begin to deplete.

Ingredients:

• 2 tsp Ragi flour: Dry roast before use

• 1 cup Water or breast milk / formula: Adjust for consistency

• ½ Ripe banana: Mashed smooth

• Pinch Cardamom: Optional, after 8 months only

Recipe:

1. Dry roast ragi flour in a pan on low heat for 2–3 minutes until it smells nutty. Stir constantly.

2. Add water gradually, whisking to avoid lumps.

3. Cook on low heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring, until the mixture thickens to a smooth porridge.

4. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.

5. Stir in mashed banana and serve. Add breast milk or formula to adjust consistency.

💡 Tip: Always test temperature on your wrist before serving. For first introduction, offer a teaspoon and wait 3 days before introducing another new food.
